Sanjana, played by Kareena Kappor, is a full of life, energetic and happy-go lucky girl. She is the apple of her father’s eye and a princess to her mother. However her mother is a little more of a disciplinarian and sometimes gets upset with her husband for over pampering Sanjana. Sanjana’s elder sister Roopa, is married and settled in the US. She gets a marriage proposition of her friend Prem Kumar, played by Abhishek Bachchan who is a successful businessman. Sanjana who is asked to be courteous to Prem is coming home to see her is not pleased and wants to drive him away. However instead of Prem Kumar Prem Kishen, played by Hrithik Roshan comes to India.
Sanjana and her family mistake him for Prem Kumar and welcome him inside his house. Prem and Sanjana spend time together and fall in love. Eventually they come to know of the mistaken identity but by now Sanjana has fallen deeply in love with Kishen and cannot think of another guy. Meanwhile Prem Kumar comes to India and spends time with Sanjana and immediately takes a liking for her. Their marriage is fixed but soon Kumar learns the truth that Sanjana has already given her heart to Kishen, so he walks away from their lives and the two unite.
The movie is directed by Sooraj Bharjatya and produced by Ajit Kumar Barjatya, Kamal Kumar Barjatya and Rajkumar Barjatya. The music is composed by Anu Malik and the cinematography is by Rajan Kinagi.
