Synopsis

During 1991, Mary Kom, played by Priyanka Chopra finds boxing gloves from the remains of an air crash and immediately is attracted to boxing but her father dislikes this fact. She goes to coach Narjit, played by Sunil Thapa who also trained Asian champion Dinko Singh. He tells her he will train her only if she is good enough and needs to attend the gym everyday for 30 days. She agrees and goes without her father knowing and the coach seeing her hard work begins to train her. After her win in the state level and 2002 Women's World Amateur Boxing Championships her father finally sees her talent and passion in the sport and a footballer called Onler who is her friend proposes marriage to her. Her coach is not happy about her marriage idea. She nevertheless marries Onler and gets pregnant few months later. She gives birth to twins. Her husband encourages her to start boxing again and she even does well at the National level championship but due to the partial behavior of the judges she still loses. In anger she throws a chair at them, which causes them to ban her. Later she writes an apology letter. The coach still upset eventually decides to train her and ends up reaching finale of 2008 AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships and wins it. Mary Kom is directed by Omung Kumar and produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Ajit Andhare. The music is composed by Shashi Suman and Shivam.
