Directed by C. V. Sridhar, Thanthu Vitten Ennai is a romantic film from 1991. It features Vikram, Rohini, Rajeshkumar and Udhaya. Surya and Raju, a tragic accident victim, fall in love despite initial challenges. Surya flees an arranged marriage to Raju, seeking a stable future. Raju's insecurity and absence push Surya towards another man. After Raju succeeds, Surya returns home, finding comfort in his mother's and cousin's support.

A young woman named Surya had a minor accident, and a widowed woman gave her a saree to cover herself or whatever. In Raju’s case, the job seeker was discriminated against in the course of an interview and subsequently rejected. When Raju first returns the saree to Surya’s house, fate brings the two together, and it is love at first sight for Raju. After some beginnings’ troubles with his new surroundings, Raju’s mom forces him to marry his cousin, and calamity befalls when his mom’s brother dies in a crash, forcing his cousin to live with Raju and his mom. Surya chases after Raju, assuring his parents of affection and economic stability after he gets a proper job.

Raju does not accept his mother’s proposal for him to marry his cousin and stay close to family, and he is resolute in his loyalty to Surya. Raju starts to feel insecure when he sees Surya’s family holidaying with millionaire Gautam, which makes Gautam uncomfortable. Wanting to make himself worthy of his future wife, Raju heads to the city, promising Surya that he would get in touch only once he had secured a respectable job. Surya, winning her family’s support, ultimately decides to marry Gautam. Just then, fate smiles on Raju with an offer for the best job, which brings him home, just in time to see Surya tie the knot with his coveted bride, Gautam. Heartbroken Raju went back home. His mother and cousin were happy and proud to see him, which felt like a small comfort to him.

Thanthu Vitten Ennai explores how fate brings people together, like Raju and Surya, who fall deeply in love despite early hurdles. The story delves into promises made, insecurities faced, and the painful consequences of separation. Ultimately, it highlights the idea that everyone has their perfect match, and even when fate deals unexpected, unfair blows, one eventually finds their rightful place. The film shows that amidst heartbreak, there's comfort in finding acceptance and quiet happiness where it's truly deserved.
