Quick Updates

The All India Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has sought a thorough probe into the death of young artist MF Kapil on the sets of 'Kantara: Chapter 1' in Karnataka. Kapil drowned in the Souparnika River near Kollur on May 6, 2025. While the crew termed the accident as unfortunate, AICWA  questioned the likelihood of negligence and requested a high-level probe.

AICWA has appealed to the authorities to register an FIR against actor-director Rishab Shetty and the production crew. Besides, the association is requesting a compensation of ₹1 crore for Kapil's family so that they will be taken care of during such hard times.

The incident has led to a wider debate regarding the safety and well-being of junior artists and crew workers in the film industry. AICWA has already pointed out such issues as low remuneration, excessive working hours, and the absence of safety on film sets, stressing the importance of structural changes to better the working lives of these indispensable workers.

As the probe unravels, authorities will examine the entertainment sector and stakeholders in the film industry to ensure accountability, prevent such disasters, and mete out justice to those responsible in the industry.
