One of the classical and veteran actors of the industry, Anupam Kher has raised concerns about the industry getting influenced by Western cinema and losing its own identity.
In a recent interview with Bollywood Bubble, Anupam Kher expressed his concerns for the film industry and stated that the industry is undergoing an identity crisis. He said, 'I feel Hindi cinema is undergoing an identity crisis, not all of us, but the definition of being cool is somehow inappropriate, as the industry, including me, is somehow trying to adapt the Western style.'
Further, he also highlighted the current state of the industry, wherein he stated that we are losing our own original, authentic and unique identity while adapting to the Western culture. He feels that being cool means to be original as well as authentic and expresses the immense amount of joy and originality of various films from the 1990s, such as 'Haseena Maan Jaayegi', 'Shola Aur Shabnam', and 'Lamhe'.
However, Anupam was last seen in 'Emergency', which was a historical film that showcased the political tensions during the emergency period which was imposed in the year 1975 by Indira Gandhi, who was the nation's prime minister at that time.
