Recently Barcelona football legend Xavi Hernandez along with his friends and family paid a special visit on the sets of the film Raja Shivaji directed by Riteish Deshmukh.


Xavi Praises Riteish Deshmukh’s Raja Shivaji Sets and Vision


The former FC Barcelona Captain spent two to three hours at the location and was highly impressed by the intricate detailing of the sets that were recreated. Xavi was further fascinated by the story and the in-depth cultural knowledge of the cinematic project taken up by Riteish Deshmukh. He was particularly in awe of Indian history and its grandeur.


After the success of his film ‘Ved’, Riteish Deshmukh will also be starring in the iconic role as Shivaji Maharaj in the film directed by him. Raja Shivaji will be in bilingual and will be made in Marathi and Hindi.  The film is expected to be released in the theatres in 2025.


Star-Studded Cast and Grand Vision Power


The other cast includes Sanjay Dutt, Fardeen Khan and Abhishek Bachchan who portray the role of Mughals. The shooting of the film began in Mumbai and was announced in 2024 on Shivaji Jayanti. The music is rendered by Ajay-Atul, and the cinematography is by Santosh Sivan.


The actor Riteish Deshmukh took to his Instagram to convey his excitement of meeting the legendary Xavi on his sets and said it was an honor to host him. The cast and crew of his film were overjoyed to meet someone as great as the former captain of Barcelona. The film Raja Shivaji is presented by Jio Studios under the banner of Mumbai Film Company and is produced by Jyoti Deshpande and Genelia Deshmukh. Riteish is excited about helming this film is about an iconic and historical figure who has exceeded mortal existence.
