The most awaited films of Vicky Kaushal as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and Rashmika Mandanna as Maharani Yesubai 'Chhaava' is gripped in a controversy.


The trailer launched recently featured both the actors in a dance sequence with an instrument lezim, a traditional instrument of Maharashtrian culture. The dance sequence has sparked controversy from maratha groups demanding historical accuracy. They argued that such a portrayal diminishes the dignity of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj particularly as the scene is set after his coronation, since he was a warrior- king and not an entertainer.


Rajya Sabha MP Sambhajiraje Chhatrapati, who's a descendant of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, has although has acknowledged the importance to showcase the Valiant tale of the Maratha warrior-king, he emphasized the need to address any inaccuracies before the film's release. He urged the filmmakers to consult historians and ensure that the portrayal of Sambhaji Maharaj is both respectful and accurate.
