Renowned Indian actor and director Dhanush took to his official social platform to celebrate the incredible achievement of young chess prodigy D Gukesh, who reached a historic landmark by outsmarting iconic Norwegian Grandmaster Magnus Carlsen in the sixth round of the esteemed Norway Chess Championship 2025.
On Monday, June 2, Dhanush shared a message
on his official X (formerly Twitter) profile, celebrating the teenage prodigy's
monumental win. His post read, “Hearty congratulations to D Gukesh on
overcoming the world’s top-ranked player and filling the hearts of millions
with pride. The grace and calmness you maintained after the match is truly
admirable and sets an example for many.”
The 19-year-old Grandmaster, Gukesh,
stunned the chess world with his unexpected comeback from a difficult position,
ultimately emerging victorious in a classical-format game against Carlsen —
marking the first time he has triumphed over the former world champion in this
format. With this achievement, Gukesh has etched his name in the annals of
Indian chess history, becoming only the second Indian ever—after Rameshbabu
Praggnanandhaa—to outplay Carlsen in a classical encounter.
Gukesh’s performance has sparked
celebrations across India, with fans, players, and celebrities acknowledging
the magnitude of his achievement. His resilience and strategic brilliance
