Bollywood actress Saiyami Kher will be essaying the role of a cricketer for the first time in R Balki’s film Ghoomer. But then that is on-screen. Off-screen the beautiful Mirzya actress has played cricket at school level for Maharashtra. With already having immense knowledge on the game it was a cakewalk for the actress. Abhishek Bachchan will be essaying the role of her coach in the film. The film also stars veteran actress Shabana Azmi. 

Talking about Ghoomer, Saiyami said, “While growing up, sports was my first love. I had always thought I would become a sportsperson or have something to do with sports. But then, I was bitten by the acting bug. I love being in front of the camera and living different lives with every new project. However, I never stopped thinking about what could have been. What my life would be had I chosen cricket as a career? I have often dreamt of the day when I could play a cricketer on screen and it’s finally happening now. This has been a dream come true, and I don’t want the journey to end... I just want to play some more.”

Director of Ghoomer, R Balki said, “A movie like ours needed someone from an authentic background. So, to find someone like Saiyami, who is both a good actor and a sportsperson, is a rarity because a true sports person cannot be replaced even if it’s in a movie.”
