Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor, the rising star from the prominent Kapoor family. The family that belonged to the multi-generations with a long history in the Hindi film industry and one of the most active families in the Indian film industry for over 96 years with four generations who have been a part of the film industry.

Ranbir Kapoor is the fourth generation and one among few more like Karisma Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Zahan Kapoor, the grandchildren of the Kapoor family who followed the business dynasty created by the Kapoor family in the industry.

The actor shared , during his growing years, his family meant to him like it was with any one else. He didn’t know what it meant to be a Kapoor. He recalls watching music directors, singers, lyricists, producers visit his home to meet his grand father Raj Kapoor and how the songs were created for him for his films. He remembers there used to be lot of arguments or debates over scenes or proper lyrics


The advantages and challenges, Ranbir faces for being born in the Kapoor family .


Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor acknowledged that his entry into the film industry was much easier, but they also came along with the challenges . The nepotism doors did open for him with the lineage he was born with but it did not guarantee success all the way. Being born in the Kapoor family had its own advantages and disadvantages. He had to independently prove his talent time and again and he had to really work hard and put in efforts to make a name for himself and sustain himself in the film industry till date.

He said he learnt from his failures as much as he learnt from his successful films which were appreciated by the audience and his fans. The 43-year-old actor remarked recently at the ‘Tribute to Legendary Filmmaker Raj Kapoor and Guru Dutt at the Cinema 2025 festival’ which was held at Subhash Ghai’s Whistling Woods.

The film actor known for his famous films such as Wake-Up Sid, Rockstar, Barfi! And his most recent film Animal that had left an impact on his audience, he understood that filmmaking is all about team effort. The actor stated , It’s not a dictatorship . It’s a collaboration of many artists coming together , inspiring people and believe in something.

Recalling the words of his great grand father Prithvi Raj Kapoor, Ranbir quoted that his belief and words moved him deeply. He stated, ‘ Kala (Art) desh ki seva mein which means, ‘Art in Service of the Country’ . If one is doing one’s work to inspire the next generation then its one of the greatest acts of service one could aim for.

The Animal star stated his approach towards his films differed with each of his roles and the directors. He said he worked as an assistant director on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film Black in 2005 and had observed the senior actors like Amitabh Bachchan and Rani Mukerji. He had made note how each scene was written and performed . He would give it a thought how they approached a particular scene but he had not tried to mimic any of them and believed in keeping his individuality.




Every filmmaker told their story differently .


Ranbir went on to say that he had realised that every film is made differently and it required a different method of approach. As an actor one cannot say they will have their own terms and conditions how to work . It has to be the director’s film and each filmmaker has a different way of telling the story. If a director wanted an actor to deliver in a certain way , It has to be his liberty to make the changes.

Ranbir also felt he never took himself seriously .As actors we are providing entertainment said the star. He also felt an actor’s ability should not be stuck with just one method and one has to be versatile in the way of portraying each role. He advised the aspiring actors of today.


Ranbir wishes to support young new talent.


After spending 18 years in the film industry, Ranbir Kapoor desires to support the new and young talent. He stated the film institutes are special as they house many dreams of raw talent and new energy and that he hopes to become an acting coach some day. Sharing his experience as an actor in the film industry from the start to offering tips and helping the new actors be comfortable to grow.

He ended by saying as an actor he had reached a phase in his career, he feels his creativity has reached its saturating point and that he would renew his energy by mentoring fresh talent.

Ranbir Kapoor has few upcoming projects such as Love and War directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Ramayana with director Nitish Tiwari of the Dangal fame.
