Karan Johar Puts His Magnum Opus ‘Takht’ On The Back Burner

Bollywood ace filmmaker Karan Johar last directed the Anushka Sharma and Ranbir Kapoor starrer Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. Fans were eagerly waiting for his next when he announced his magnum opus multi-starrer Takht. However, a few days ago the teaser of ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’ has been creating a buzz. The latter is a Dharma Production. Does that mean Takht is shelved? An industry insider is indicating that the period drama does not really make sense at this point, especially considering the vast budget and the controversial subject of the history of Moghuls in India. It was to be a collaboration between Dharma and Fox-Star. This will be a huge blow to Karan Johar fans.

Takht’s star cast included a stellar star cast of Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar, Janhvi Kapoor and Anil Kapoor in lead roles. Johar has instead decided to present a light hearted love story starring Alia and Ranveer who previously worked in Gully Boy. Only time will tell if the Student Of The Year filmmaker revives his magnum opus or not!
