India and the world will forever be indebted to the late Lata Mangeshkar for the rich legacy in music that she has left behind. The silken voiced nightingale of our Nation passed away on February 6th leaving millions of mourning fans. Her contribution to Hindi cinema and the music world is irreplaceable and will forever live on. Despite being away from the limelight for a couple of years, the legendary singer made an exception in 2019 when she sung a song that will give every Indian goosebumps every time they hear it.

Lata didi as she was fondly called by many, recoded her last song called ‘Saugandh Mujhe Is Mitti Ki’ in 2019. The beautiful song was a tribute to the Indian Army. The song written by Prasoon Joshi and composed by Mayuresh Pai is inspired from a speech given by our honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She even said, “I was so touched by the poem he mentioned during his speech that I recorded it and will decade this song to our veer jawans and the people of our country.”

Lata Mangeshkar’s last full recorded album was for Yash Chopra’s 2014 film Veer Zaara starring Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta. She even sung the Gayatri Mantra and Ganesh Stuti in 2018 for Mukesh and Nita Ambani’s daughter Isha Ambani's wedding.
