Nana Patekar Addresses His Absence from 'Welcome To The Jungle' at the Trailer Launch Event of His Forthcoming Movie, 'The Vaccine War'

Nana Patekar's iconic role as Uday Shetty in Welcome still reigns supreme in the world of memes and social media chatter. His unforgettable comedic exchanges with Anil Kapoor's character, Majnu Bhai, have left an indelible impression on fans. However, eyebrows were raised when the creators of the upcoming sequel, Welcome 3—also known as Welcome To The Jungle—revealed that Patekar and Kapoor would not reprise their roles. Instead, the spotlight has shifted to the Munnabhai pair of Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi, leaving many fans feeling a sense of loss for the original duo.

During the trailer unveiling of his forthcoming movie, The Vaccine War, Nana Patekar opened up about not being part of  Welcome To The Jungle. He remarked, "Perhaps my age or the wear and tear of years led to them not casting me in Welcome 3. On the flip side, the team behind The Vaccine War evidently doesn't share that viewpoint, which is why they've brought me on board. It's as straightforward as that."

The Vaccine War signals Nana Patekar's cinematic comeback, five years after his role as the villain opposite Rajinikanth in Kaala. That same year, Tanushree Dutta reignited allegations of sexual harassment against Patekar during the filming of Horn Ok Pleassss, giving rise to the Me Too movement in Bollywood. Subsequently, Patekar's on-screen appearances have been notably infrequent.

Addressing his recent hiatus from the film industry, Nana Patekar remarked, "If you're committed to delivering quality work, the doors of this industry will always remain open for you. Offers will continue to roll in, so long as you're willing to put in the effort. The decision to accept a role is ultimately yours."

He further elaborated on his approach to each project, saying, "I treat every film as both my first and potentially my last opportunity. Chances come to everyone; it's your choice to seize them or let them pass."

In related news, Patekar's upcoming film, 'The Vaccine War,' is slated for a theatrical release on September 28.
