Shilpa Shetty And Raj Kundra Accused Of ₹60 Crore Fraud

Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra deny ₹60 crore fraud allegations, calling them civil and NCLT-settled.

Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty and her husband Raj Kundra are making headlines again, and this time the couple has been accused of fraud of Rs 60 crore. A case has been registered at Juhu Police Station in Mumbai. Earlier, Raj Kundra's name had come up in the pornography case, but this time Shilpa Shetty’s name has also been roped in.

Fraud Case Details

This fraud case is related to Shilpa and Raj's now defunct company, Best Deal TV Private Limited. Businessman Deepak Kothari has alleged that he gave Rs 60.48 crore to the couple to expand the business between 2015–2023, but it was used for personal expenses.

Deepak Kothari alleged that a bankruptcy case of Rs 1.28 crore came up against the company, which he had no knowledge of. He stated that he requested his money several times but was ignored. He accused the couple of hatching a well-planned conspiracy during 2015–2023.

The case was first registered at the Juhu police station, but since the amount involved was more than Rs 10 crore, it was transferred to the Economic Offences Wing (EOW). The EOW is now investigating the case.

Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra’s Response

Shilpa and Kundra have denied these claims through their counsel, Prashant Patil, who cited the allegations to be “purely civil in nature” and pointed out that the matter had been adjudicated by the NCLT Mumbai in October 2024.

"My clients deny all the allegations, which are purely civil in nature and have been adjudicated by the NCLT Mumbai on 04/10/2024. Our auditors have submitted all the necessary supporting documents from time to time, as requested by the EOW, including detailed cash flow statements," claimed Patil.
