Abhijeet's Allegations

Singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya criticised music maestro A R Rahman for overusing digital technology in music, which has impacted the live instrumentation and the musicians. Rahman defended, highlighting his continued support for the musicians.

A R Rahman's Response

The composer responded,  he uses his computer as a tool to design extraordinary harmonies in a track.  He said he cannot afford musicians to play tunes and then reject them later.  The music digitally is a soft copy but the full final song is always recorded live.

The Jai Ho singer said with a smile that it is easy to blame me, and there is nothing wrong with expressing one’s opinion.  Veteran music composer responded by  ‘I still love Abhijeet, I send him cakes !’

He was slammed by Abhijeet stating that he is encouraging the industry to stop using live musicians. A R Rahman went on to clarify, recently he had set up an orchestra in Dubai with 60 women.  These women are employed every month and are being paid insurance, health and everything is taken care of by the maestro.

A R Rahman's Work Update

His current films Chhaava or Ponniyin Selvan, had close to 200 to 300 musicians involved with the songs in the films. He also expressed he doesn’t like to show off with photographs and make a publicity out of it, thus not many would know of this fact.

Rahman emphasised on his commitment towards live musicians and his support as singer Abhijeet mentioned Padma Bhushan, Padma Shri recipients were made to wait long.
