Veteran actress and playback singer Sulakshana Pandit known for her movies such as Uljhan , Apnapan, Chere Pe Chehra etc. She was known for her role in Apnapan. A very sweet looking flawless beauty with a typical girl next door looks she won the hearts of her fans with her family-oriented films.

The actress suffered a cardiac arrest after she was rushed to Nanavati hospital where she passed away. The actress had complained of breathlessness on Thursday evening and seemed quite unwell and immediately her family members took her to the hospital but the actress had died on the way before the medical team could attend to her.

Sulakshana Pandit debuted in the film Uljhan in 1975 starring alongside Sanjeev Kumar. She had then worked with some of the top stars like Rajesh Khanna, Jeetendra, Shashi Kapoor, Vinod Khanna . Her major movies for which she had earned appreciation and fame were Sankoch, Hera Pheri Khandaan, Dharam Kanta, Do Waqt Ki Roti, Gora, Apnapan etc. She also acted in Bengali films and had starred with Uttam Kumar.

She sang songs in several languages which included Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Oriya and Gujarati. Some of her hit renditions were Tu Hi Saagar Tu Hi Kinara, Pardesiya Tere Desh Mein, Bekrar Dil Tut Gaya, Baandhi Re Kahe Preet, Saat Samundar Paar, etc.

The actress cum singer came from a musical background and are originally from Hisar in Haryana. The famous classical vocalist Pandit Jasraj was her uncle.Sulakshana Pandit had started singing from the age of nice and had started a career in singing alongside her brother Mandheer.

Jatin Lalit the renowned music director duo are her brothers who have been associated with several hit films. She has one sister Vijayata Pandit who was also an actress married to late music director Aadesh Shrivastava who had died a few years ago.
