The Mini Festival 'Spirit of Indian Cinema and Sports’ has been organised by The High Commission of India in London. The festival is an initiative to highlight on country’s sporting achievements and some of the iconic Indian films, which are the drivers of closer India-UK ties. 


The festival set to showcase some of the iconic films on Bollywood, was inaugurated by Indian High Commissioner to the UK Vikram Doraiswami on Friday evening.


The two days festival opened with a packed screening of Kabir Khan directed ‘83’ starring Ranveer Singh as the winning captain of 1983 cricket World Cup -Kapil Dev.


The festival followed the screening of the 2016 box-office hit ‘Dangal’, starring Aamir Khan as wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat, and the hit ‘Chak De! India’ which portrays m Shah Rukh Khan in the role of a hockey coach inspired by the life of Mir Ranjan Negi on Saturday.
