Subhash Ghai Expressed His Views On 'Filmmaking In Modern Times'

One of the iconic and legendary filmmakers, Subhash Ghai, who is popularly known for providing several films such as Ram Lakhan, Pardes, Khalnayak and Taal, recently spoke about the industry’s current condition as it is somehow lacking the enthusiasm, creativity and passion for cinema and has just remained as a job. Also, he revealed why he stopped making films.

In a candid conversation on the Game Changers' YouTube channel, Subhash Ghai stated his views, 'I have stopped making films because of the fact that I don't see the passion and love for cinema anymore, not in the industry nor in my own team as well. They are all just working.'

Further, he added an incident about a writer to whom he had approached for a film's script and stated how the whole scenario was very business-centric rather than creative and engaging.

I had given an idea to a writer and asked him to create a story out of it. Then, he informed me that he would complete the script in fifteen days, and then would deliver its first draft in the next three days, and demanded his full fee in advance. Also, he provided me the exact dates about the story's completion. Then, I asked him, "Are you creating chapatis?' 

Moreover, he strongly criticised the modern approach of filmmaking while stating the fact that skills are being purchased, whereas true and pure creative collaborations are slowly vanishing away.
