'Vikram Vedha' Will Have Its Digital Premiere On Jio Cinema On May 12, 2023.
Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan starrer film 'Vikram Vedha' was released in theaters on September 30 last year. Directed by Pushkar-Gayatri, the film also starred Radhika Apte and Rohit Saraf in lead roles. However, the film failed to entertain the audience at the box office. At the same time, now seven months after its release, the film is finally going to have its world digital premiere on Jio Cinema.
The conventional time between theatrical and digital premiere for Hindi films is around 56 days these days. The makers of 'Vikram Vedha' did not opt for the traditional route hence there was a long wait for those who could not see the film in theaters when it released. The digital premiere of 'Vikram Vedha' is now set for May 12, 2023 on Jio Cinema and its over 400 million users will be able to watch the movie for free.
This is the biggest digital launch for any film in the world as no other streaming service can boast of the viewership of Jio Cinema. It was a deliberate strategy to release the film on a streaming service when a good chunk of the audience remained hooked to its platform, courtesy the IPL matches it has been streaming since becoming the official streaming partner of the IPL.

When Hrithik was asked about the world digital premiere of his film, he said, "7 months has been a long wait, but I am thrilled that Vikram Vedha will be streaming on May 12, 2023. He further added, “It is an interesting launch as Vikram Vedha will be the first in a launch calendar of 100 titles, which will be hosted on the streaming platform. This is perhaps the widest OTT launch for a film, with Jio Cinema currently garnering viewership 400 million, making the scale of Vikram Vedha's OTT launch an unprecedented event."
The story of 'Vikram Vedha' has been written by Pushkar-Gayatri and it has also been directed by them. Vikram Vedha's story is full of twists and turns, as a tough cop 'Vikram' (Saif Ali Khan) sets out to track down and chase the dreaded gangster 'Vedha' (Hrithik Roshan). The film is presented by Gulshan Kumar, T-Series and Reliance Entertainment in association with Friday Filmworks and Jio Studios.The film will have its world digital premiere on Jio Cinema on 12 May.
