“We Are Not Cutting Corners Or Taking Shortcuts”- Sanjay Leela Bhansali On His Web Series Heeramandi

After giving us a heart wrenching and intense film like Gangubai Kathiawadi, Sanjay Leela Bhansali is all set to bring his next. His upcoming project is another of his ambitious projects titled Heeramandi. It is set during India’s partition period and tells the tale of the charming tawaifs in a brothel. Speaking about the series SLB said, “Actually, every episode of Heeramandi is like an independent feature film. We are not cutting corners or taking shortcuts.” He added further, “It has a vast cast and we are still casting. We want justice to be done to every character big or small. The casting is filled with surprises.”

Bhansali added, “Of course, music will be of utmost importance. But we are not making a Pakeezah or an Umrao Jaan here. There are songs, quite a few of them, but the focus will be on the drama.” Heeramandi will stream on a top OTT platform soon and stars Sonakshi Sinha and Huma Qureshi among others.
