After his National Award wining film ‘I Am’, starring Juhi Chawla and Manisha Koirala, which was based on the LGBTQ community, director Onir will be making a sequel to it titled ‘We Are’. The ‘Shab’ director said that unlike his previous film, this one will have a happy ending and celebrate LGBT love. The film is slated to have four different interconnected stories; one being about gay, one about lesbian, one on transgender and one straight.

Onir said movies based on the LGBT community will be more widely accepted when the society begins to accept them at large. Even though there is a Supreme Court ruling, yet the society is still taking a step back in accepting such people and stories on them, thus they are labeled as gay love stories and not just love stories.  Kashish Film Festival in Mumbai is probably the only one showcasing LGBTQ movies at the moment.
