The film is produced by Tamil cinema veteran director AR Murugadoss, known in the Hindi belt for Aamir Khan's Ghajini. '16 August 1947' is a PAN India film, which is releasing in Hindi and English along with South Indian languages. As the title of the film suggests. Its story shows the situation a day after the country got independence. On August 15, 1947, the country was freed from the slavery of the British Government. The film stars Gautam Karthik and debutante Revathi in the lead roles.


The trailer begins with Sengadu village, which is called Capital of Slavery. The people here are slaves of the British owner. The country gets freedom, but these people have to fight for their freedom. The film is directed by NS Ponkumar. August 16, 1947 will hit the screens on April 7.
