Durga - Mata Ki Chhaya is a serial of the family-drama genre. This serial’s story mainly revolves around the spiritual and mythological Aneja family and its family members namely Durga, Dev, Damini, Lakhan and Amrish. Its story begins with a traditional ritual of Saptami Puja( which is a prominent festival of the Hindu religion) which takes place at the luxurious villa named Aneja Vila wherein Damini purposely delays the puja which causes a sudden rift and tension in the family as her purpose was to make her mentally unstable brother Dev appear to be unfit to inherit his deceased parents’ property which is to be divided equally amongst the family.Further, with the accompany of Amrish, Damini begins to manipulate Dev and forces him to undergo mental therapy. Meanwhile, Dev embarks upon experiencing strange and mystic visions of a divine woman which is later revealed to be none other than the incarnation of the almighty Goddess Durga who guides and mentors him to improve his way of living and tries to communicate with him. As Dev stays under the control of Damini, his health worsens to some extent,but the Goddess’s divine blessings and power safeguards him.As Dev and Durga’s destiny intersects with each other, they decide to marry each other despite the sheer resistance by Damini. Later, in a attempt to save them, Damini begins to use some dark and mystic powers to time-travel Durga back in past up to seventy-years back while sending Lakhan to enact as a doppelganger of Dev to come from that era to the current modern era in order to replace him. What will happen further? Can Damini become successful in her conspiracies? Will Durga punish her severely and teach her a lesson? This serial wonderfully portrays the emotions of devotion, and trust through its drama, suspense and interesting storyline which portrays the time-travel through its eye-catchy visuals which keep the audiences hooked on to the serial.
