Choked (2020)

Sarita and Sushant live a middle class life in a busy neighborhood of Mumbai. She works in a bank as a teller while he is mostly unemployed and trying out eccentric ways to make money. The stress of working full time plus taking care of the house and their young son takes a toll on their marriage. As a result they have frequent fights and arguments. One day their fate changes when a man comes to their building with a huge suitcase of money. He hides the money in zip lock bags in the bathroom drains. This causing the choking of drain pipes which leads to a rather unpleasant noise from the drains. To Sarita’s surprise when she goes to see why there is so much noise from the drains, she happens to find the bags of cash. Sarita does not disclose this fact to anyone and uses the money to pay all Sushant’s debts and also buy expensive things for herself. Things take a turn for the worse when the unlimited supply of cash suddenly stops due to demonetization. The film is directed by Anurag Kashyap and written by Nihit Bhave. The star cast includes Saiyami Kher, Roshan Mathew, Amruta Subhash, Rajshri Deshpande.
