Iconic Trio Of Friendship Vijay, Ravi, And Mangal In Kaala Patthar

Kaala Patthar wich means Black stone a film released in 1979. The film Kaala Patthar was a multi starrer film is based on a story from Dhanbad Chasnala mining disaster where in 375 were dead as per the records.

We welcome you to a new episode on Amitabh Bachchan’s filmy journey.  The film’s leading actors were Amitabh Bachchan, Shashi Kapoor, Shatrughan Sinha, Rakhee, Neetu Singh, Prem Chopra, Madan Puri and Iftekar. Directed by Yash Chopra and written by Salim Javed. Music was composed by Sahir Ludhianvi. This film was the fourth collaboration between Yash Chopra and Amitabh Bachchan. Before the release of Kaala Patthar, they have worked together in successful films like Deewaar, Kabhi Kabhi and Trishul.

Kaala Patthar was one of the films that also took a leap in Amitabh Bachchan’s career as he portrays as Vijay Pal Singh the role of an ex naval captain and is branded a coward as he leaves the ship risking the lives of the people on board.  Feeling terribly guilty he decides to join the coal mining to forget his guilty past. 

He makes friends with the engineer in charge, Ravi essayed by Shashi Kapoor and also makes an enemy with co-worker Mangal  who is working in the mines. Mangal, (Shatrughan Sinha) starts creating trouble for the coal miners while Vijay Pal Singh tries to defend the coal miners to protect them. They also have a greedy boss Seth Dhanraj makes life difficult for the coal miners. In one such incident Mangal is hurt badly and Vijay Singh Pal saves him. The become good friends. The three have their own love angles, Dr. Sudha sen, that’s Rakhee is one who supports Vijay and helps him forget his past and move on in life.  Mangal gets involved with Anita, essayed by Parveen Babi and Shashi Kapoor is romancing Channo, essayed by Neetu Singh. The three of them, Mangal, Vijay and Ravi come together to fight the injustice and for giving them poor quality of mining equipments. They rescue the mining workers during the water floods. Mangal dies during the struggle.

The film became a super hit and grossed more than 6 crores at the box office. So this was Kaala Patthar story and we move on to his next film.
