The 1983 movie featuring Amitabh Bachchan in a triple role is truly a treat for his fans. Amitabh has done many double roles in his career, but his work in Mahaan stands out as he is one of the rarest stars who managed to nail the triple role and make it look convincing.


Mahaan was released in 1983, and this Hindi-language action drama movie was directed by S Ramanathan, the director of Bombay To Goa. The movie features stars such as Waheeda Rehman, Parveen Babi, Zeenat Aman, Ashok Kumar, Amjad Khan, Kader Khan, and Aruna Iran. The main attraction of the movie was Amitabh Bachchan in a triple role.


According to reports, Hema Malini was supposed to play the character portrayed by Parveen Babi, but she left the movie after getting pregnant. She shot a few scenes of Mahaan but unfortunately had to let go of the movie.


The songs of the movie were super hit at the time of its release. R D Burman composed its music, and R. D. Burman, Asha Bhosle, Kishore Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, and Amit Kumar have sung these songs, while Anjaan penned its lyrics. One of the songs from the movie Mahaan, 'Yeh Din To Aata Hai Ek Din Jawaani Mein,' was specially sung by R D Burman at Amitabh Bachchan’s request.


The storyline of the movie revolves around a lawyer played by Amitabh Bachchan who had to leave his family after being accused of a false crime.
