Synopsis

Raj Tilak and his wife are living a peaceful married life until they have a pair of twin sons. Raj decides to name them both Ashok since they are identical and look exactly the same. To make matters even more confusing, the couple adopt another pair of twins and name them both Bahadur. Certain circumstances in their lives make the family separate from each other. So the couple is left with one child each of the pair of twins. Some years later Ashok marries Sudha while Bahadur marries Prema. They all stay at Sudha’s sister’s house. Meanwhile the other Ashok and other Bahadur come to town to make matters worse. Now the city has two Ashoks and two Bahadurs who look the same. The film is directed by Gulzar and produced by Jai Singh. The music is composed by R D Burman. The star cast includes Sanjeev Kumar, Deven Verma, Moushmi Chatterjee, Aruna Irani, Utpal Dutt, T P Jain, C S Dube, Yunus Parvez, Ram Mohan, Shammi, Kamal Deep, Trilok Kapoor, Basant, Bhola, Prabhakar, Rajendra Singh, Raj Bharti, Bhushan, Ashish, Kuldeep, Madan, Padma Chavan and Deepti Naval.
