Synopsis

Anjali, played by Kareena Kapoor lives in Montreal with her parents and elder sister Aarti, played by Sushmita Sen. They are a close knit family and love each other immensely. Anjali falls in love with a musician named Raja, played by Akshay Kumar. But since he is yet to make a mark in his career, Anjali decides to keep her relationship under wraps. Meanwhile Aarti knows about their love affair and assures Anjali that she will speak to their parents and convince them. Soon Aarti marries Aditya, played by Anil Kapoor and she is expecting twins. Complications arise during her delivery and Aarti dies giving birth to twin girls. A devastated Aditya is grief struck. The entire family is in shock. Unaware of Anjali’s relationship with Raja, her parents request her to marry Aditya as the twin girls need a mother too. Anjali, torn between her mourning family and her love for Raja, decides to sacrifice her love and marry Aditya. They all move to New Delhi. A mourning Aditya finds no time for his new wife and two young daughters. Anjali is a dedicated mother to her nieces but is unable to bridge the gap and hostility between Aditya and her. She stays in the marriage for the sake of her two little nieces. Meanwhile Raja enters into Anjali’s life again. Unable to control her emotions she begins to spend time with him. Aditya learns of her past from his business partners Dil, played by Manoj Bajpayee and Pallavi, played by Shamita Shetty. He asks her to choose between him and Raja but she chooses Aditya as she has fallen in love with him. The movie is written and directed by Dharmesh Darshan and produced by Boney Kapoor. The music is composed by Nadeem-Shravan and the cinematography is by W.B. Rao.
