“Chakra” is a 2021 Tamil action thriller film directed by M. S. Anandan, written by Rajat Kapoor and Chandrakumar, and featuring Vishal, Shraddha Srinath, and Regina Cassandra. The narrative begins with 50 houses in Chennai robbed simultaneously by two masked burglars. With a total of ₹70 million worth of items stolen, the police unit led by ACP Gayathri (Shraddha), who is also Chandru's past lover, is struggling to find clues. Chandru becomes individually interested in associating with the case when he suffers a personal loss for his family.
In investigating, Chandru targets a telephone number of the shut-down emergency services firm 'Dial For Help.' The number leads him to a person named Marimuthu, dead for two years. A taunting phone call from the phantom thief incites the police, with clues referencing chess moves. Chandru joins the dots and arrives at Leela (Regina), an international-level chess player turned hacker, as the mastermind.
A flashback reveals Leela's traumatic past: she witnessed her mother's suicide and was abused by her father. Brilliant, she breaks into sites with the details required to orchestrate the holdups, employing her stepbrothers as her accomplices. She selects homes from purchase data online and then targets people based on their online trails.
As the probe continues, Chandru and Gayathri repair their damaged relationship. In a conclusive showdown, Leela is detained after a gory fight, and Chandru gets back his father's medal and the ill-gotten gain. But here the story is not over yet Leela escapes from prison, vowing to return and beat Chandru once again.
