Synopsis

“Hathya” is a new Telugu film directed and written by Srividya Basawa. The new movie features Dhanya Balakrishna, Ravi Varma, and Pooja Ramachandran in pivotal roles. Shot against the menacing backdrop of high-stakes politics and power play, the film is a compelling political crime thriller based on true events. The film opens with the gruesome murder of highly popular politician V. S. Dayananda Reddy (played by Ravi Varma) a few days before a key state election. His untimely death creates shock waves in the political circle. As the public demands answers, the Chief Minister commissions fearless and bright IPS officer Sudha Rao (played by Dhanya Balakrishna) to investigate. As Sudha delves deeper into the case, she understands that the murder is not only a political crime but an act that has been well-planned with secrets, betrayal, and lies. Influential individuals attempt to put roadblocks in front of her, witnesses disappear, and evidence is manipulated. But Sudha refuses to abandon her pursuit of justice. The film explores the darker side of politics, where power overpowers truth and justice is a fight and not a privilege. With every twist, Sudha exposes connections that uncover heinous truths about the ruling class. Loosely inspired by Andhra Pradesh's real-life murder of Y. S. Vivekananda Reddy, Hathya offers a yet striking account of crime, corruption, and the cost of truth in contemporary politics. Laden with suspense and powerful performances, “Hathya” is a new movie that guarantees to keep viewers on the edge of their seats. With a gripping story and powerful female protagonist, it is a recently released political thriller that can stand in the genre and is a must-see for crime drama fans.
