Dharam Murti is an honest and respected school teacher in a village. One day he witnesses a murder at the hands of the dreaded gangster Sher Singh. He notifies the police and gets him arrested. With his power, influence and money, Sher Singh is able to get out of jail. However the latter does not take the humiliation lightly and swears revenge on Dharam. He thus exposes a false affair between him and a fellow teacher
Menaka. Not being able to take this embarrassment, Dharam leaves his wife and children and goes far away. Dharam’s son Ravi grows up to be a brave and educated man. He decides to restore his father’s lost reputation. Meanwhile Sher Singh daughter Rekha grows up to be as arrogant and ruthless like her father. After a few misunderstandings and tiffs, she falls in love with Ravi. One day Ravi sees his father working on a construction site. He brings him back to their village and proves Sher Singh guilty in front of the panchayat. Dharam however forgives him but tells him to be good to the poor people. Eventually Sher Singh transforms and lets Rekha and Ravi get married. The film is directed by K Raghavendra Rao and produced by G A Seshagiri rao. The music is composed by Bappi Lahiri. The star cast includes Jeetendra, Sridevi, Amjad Khan, Shoma Anand, Asrani, Satyen Kappu and Waheeda Rehman.
