“Kaalidas” is an action thriller from the year 2019 in Tamil, by the director Sri Senthil. The cast of the film includes Bharath, Ann Sheetal, Suresh Menon, and Aadhav Kannadasan. It has been considered to be one of the best works in Bharath's career. It received applause from both critics and audiences alike.
The film, now, follows Inspector Kaalidas investigating a mysterious death of a woman. Initially, he assumes it to be one of the suicides in this city, but with the continuing series of deaths among women, he realizes there is something more than just a crime. Meanwhile, his marriage with Vidyaa (Ann Sheetal) is falling apart due to his busy work life.
Things turn weird when a mysterious tenant (Aadhav Kannadasan) moves into their house. He bears a striking resemblance to Vidyaa's college love, and therefore, she feels a strong bonding with him. As Kaalidas continues his investigation, he finds connecting links between the victims, a beauty parlor, and a dangerous online game just like the Blue Whale Challenge. A woman named Shanti seemed to have answers and managed to escape but was later killed.
Kaalidas continues digging until he becomes increasingly afraid of the fact that Vidyaa is a possible victim. Rushing back home, he was stunned by the real truth - that Vidyaa was actually the murderer. Her mind has suffered schizophrenia due to the death of her daughter and is living in a delusional world. The unknown tenant was merely her imagination and the work of a sick mind.
A critical blood test uncovers that Vidyaa is the murderer. The film concludes with him singing her favorite tune, and the imaginary tenant vanishes, thus starting their new life together.
"Kaalidas" is an engrossing thriller with elements of crime, psychology, and emotions that makes it a memorable Tamil cinema film
