Set in 2016 B.C, Mohenjo Daro is the story of good wining over evil. Sarman, played by Hrithik Roshan is a brave young man living in the village of Amri. Having lost his parents he lives with his uncle Durjan, played by Nitish Bharadwaj. One day he kills a crocodile that was endangering the lives of the village people. He is hailed a hero by his brave act.

Sarman decides to visit the city of Mohenjo Daro with his friend Hojo for trading some goods. His uncle reluctantly lets him go, giving him a seal having the unicorn mark and asks him to open only in extreme emergency. In Mohenjo Daro they learn that Maham, played by Kabir Bedi and his evil son Moonja, played by Arunoday Singh control the city.

Maham wants to introduce an additional tax but Sarman stops him and asks the farmers to oppose it too. Sarman then meets the head priest and falls in love with his daughter Chaani, played by Pooja Hegde. She is forcibly enaged to Moonja. They share with him how Maham killed Sarman’s father and he took his place to rule the city. Maham wants to now build a dam to mine gold from the Sindhu River.

Chaani’s father asks Sarman to fight two cannibals in the city’s center arena and avengers his father’s death by destroying Maham. This will also let him allow Channi to braek her engagement to Moonja. He fights two ferocious cannibals Zokar and Bakar and kills one of them but spares the life of the other. Channi exposes Maham’s plan to smuggle gold and weapon to become rich before the chiefs. Thus Maham is killed from droning in the overflowing Sindhu River and the rest of the village is evacuated to another river. Mohenjo Daro is directed by Ashutosh Gowariker and produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur and Sunita Gowariker. The music is composed by A.R Rahman.
