Omkara AKA Omi, played by Ajay Devgan is a bahubali in his village. Langda Tyagi, played by Saif Ali Khan and Keshav, played by Vivek Oberoi are his close aids. One day Omi abducts Dolly Mishra, played by Kareena Kapoor Khan from her wedding to Rajju, played by Deepak Dobriyal. Her father confronts Omi, putting a gun to his head asking to return her. Later Dolly comes in public and confesses that she eloped with him as she has fallen in love with Omi. An embarrassed and furious father of Dolly leaves. Omkara then enters politics and appoints Keshav as his successor and not Langda who is older and more experienced, this infuriates Langda and he vows revenge.
Langda makes Keshav consume lots of alcohol and creates a brawl between him and Rajju. Omkara is furious at the irresponsible behavior of Keshav. Langda then asks Keshav to talk to Dolly about convincing Omi. He makes this look like an affair between Keshav and Dolly and sows the seeds of doubt into Omi’s mind. A waist accessory (kamarbandh) that is stolen by Langda’s wife Indu is given to Keshav by Langda and he in turn gifts it to his girlfriend Billo. The disappearance of the accessory is the ultimate evidence of her infidelity. On their wedding night Omi thus smothers Dolly to death without knowing the whole truth.
Meanwhile Langda shoots Keshav on Omi’s orders. Indu enters Omi’s room and sees a dead Dolly and confesses to stealing the waist accessory. Omi realizes his mistake and commits suicide, while Indu slashes Langda’s throath. The movie is directed by Vishal Bhardwaj and produced by Kumar Mangat Pathak. The music is composed by Vishal Bhardwaj.
