Ashok and Kishore are brothers who live with their aunt and uncle as their parents pass away at an early age. They are close to each other and share each other’s secrets, happiness and misery. They learn to do petty thefts at a young age for their uncle while their aunt ill-treats them at home. Having had enough of bad treatment from them, the brothers decide to leave home and go on their own. Sadly circumstances make
them separate from each other and they are left to fend for themselves and in the process learn to take care of themselves. Soon Ashok meets Asha and marries her while Kishore gets married to Preeti. Their life takes a drastic turn when Ashok is jailed for theft. The film is directed by Samir Ganguli and produced by Robert D'Souza. The music is composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal. The cinematography is by N Srinivas. The star cast includes Shashi Kapoor, Sanjeev Kumar, Zeenat Aman, Asha Parekh, Ranjeet, Jagdeep, Helen and Leela Mishra.
