Ramdas and his wife Savitri live a middle class life with their
two children Sunita and Prakash. They decide to get Sunita
married to Prem whose proposal is brought by their friend
Champabai. Sunita meets Prem and all goes well. They soon get
married and she moves in with Prem. However soon things
begin to take an ugly turn. Prem’s family which includes his
mother Kanta, crippled brother Surender and younger brother
Bitto, all begin to harass and belittle her. Sunita realizes that it
is because Ramdas was unable to pay the dowry money.
The house maid Lilly then warns Sunita that Prem’s mother
might try to kill her by putting poison in her food, just like she
did with his first wife. Sunita is now scared for her life but has
no choice but to carry on living there. The film is directed by
Swaroop Kumar and produced by Tito. The music is composed
by Anu Malik. The star cast includes Ashok Kumar, Vijayendra,
Hema Malini, Prem Kishan, Marc Zuber, Prem Chopra, Kajal
Kiran, Raza Murad, Sarika, Aruna Govil, Nirupa Roy, Shashikala,
Shabana Azmi and Lalita Pawar.
