"Red Sandal Wood" (2023) is an action drama film in Tamil, directed and written by Guru Ramaanujam. JN Cinemas produced the film under the direction of J. Parthasarathy, starring Vetri, Diya Mayuri, KGF Ram, and MS Baskar in pivotal roles. Based on real-life crime, the gripping plot delves into the illegal world of red sandalwood smuggling in the Andhra Pradesh forests.

The film revolves around "Prabha" (Vetri), a focused young boxer from North Madras, who goes on a mission to find his girlfriend's missing brother, Karuna. He goes deep into the Andhra Pradesh forests and unknowingly becomes involved in a red sandalwood smuggling racket. Before he knows it, Prabha is wrongly implicated and arrested by forest officials.

While he tries to clear his name, Prabha stumbles upon a sinister racket for trafficking red sandalwood and cheating innocent Tamil workers. He realizes that there is an influential smuggling overlord by the name of "Harimara" (KGF Ram) at the core of the whole syndicate with the help of bribed police officials and officers in uniform.

With no one to believe and time slipping away, Prabha has to fight back with his talent and guts to unmask the culprits and get Karuna home in safety. His quest becomes one of survival, truth, and justice against all odds.

"Red Sandal Wood" excels in its idea, blending crime thriller genres with social significance. Despite the presence of a poorly paced narrative and inconsistent execution, the central idea remains robust. The movie brings out the gravity of red sandalwood smuggling in India and captures the courage of ordinary men challenging organized crime. Vetri is genuine in his performance, and the movie is worth watching for its grounded storyline and thematic significance.
