"Sarrainodu" is an action drama film in Telugu, released in 2016. Directed by Boyapati Srinu and starring Allu Arjun, Aadhi Pinisetty, Rakul Preet Singh, and Catherine Tresa, it is a film about an ex-army major who chooses violence as his means of taking the law into his own hands.

Gana (Allu Arjun) is a retired major from the Indian Army and stays with his uncle Sripathi (Srikanth). His father, Umapathi (Jayaprakash), reprimands him for being unemployed. He is sent to marry Mahalakshmi (Jaanu) but falls in love with MLA Hansitha (Catherina Tresa). Vairam Dhanush (Aadhi Pimisetty), the chief minister's corrupt son, shields a wealthy boy who murdered a girl. When the victim's family commits suicide after a court case failure, Gana loses his temper and punishes the offenders brutally. Hansitha becomes infatuated with Gana but requests him to abandon violence forever. As he concurs, Jaanu arrives, hurt and escaping from Dhanush's henchmen. Gana rescues her and finds out that Jaanu had not rejected him, he had withdrawn after rescuing her from Dhanush's henchmen earlier.

Jaanu exposes Dhanush's atrocities, such as the killing of her father, Jaya Prakash, and a group of farmers who had opposed a pipeline project. Gana opposes Dhanush, but he manages to flee. Later Dhanush murdered the DGP and wounded Sripathi. Gana is forced to surrender in exchange for Sripathi’s life but is stabbed by Dhanush. When Gana learns Sripathi is still alive, he breaks free, kills the Chief Minister, and then decapitates Dhanush in a final battle. Gana and police officer Ranjit cover up the killings, and Gana announces Hansitha as the new Chief Minister candidate.

"Sarrainodu" is a full-fledged commercial action movie loaded with high energy, punchy dialogues, and gritty performances. Allu Arjun plays a mass-hero role with flair and intensity. The action is stylised, and the movie has a message of rising against injustice. While predictable in places, it keeps one entertained with its frenetic pace and muscular heroism.
