After the delays and the speculation on the film’s release Captain India has finally locked its theatrical release for next year. The much-anticipated aviation drama is set for its grand release on August 13th 2027 in the theatres, perfectly timed with the Independence Day weekend.
It marks the first collaboration between Kartik Aaryan and the director Shimit Amin. The film is being closely watched for its announcement since 2021. Backed by T Series and Baweja Studios, in association with Midnight Chai Films Ltd, Captain India has weathered multiple delays before it finalised on the theatrical release to carry forward the momentum.

Known for his critically acclaimed films like Ab Tak Chhappan, Chak De! India and Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year, Shimit Amin is returning with the major come back with Captain India.
The film is reportedly inspired by true events. It revolves around the high stakes rescue mission with Kartik Aaryan playing a role of a pilot. The script is written and produced by Harman Baweja. The movie is expected to go on floors in the second quarter of 2026 giving it enough time to plan their shooting schedules across India and Morocco. Hinting at a mass scale production.
The film will initially be set to be directed by Hansal Mehta for his notable creative shift. The interesting fact is the movie is slated for its release with a patriotic backdrop.
