In a major update from the South Indian
film industry, Bollywood superstar Deepika Padukone has reportedly opted out of
the much-hyped film Spirit, starring Prabhas and directed by Animal maker
Sandeep Reddy Vanga. This unexpected exit has taken fans by surprise,
especially since the project had generated significant buzz thanks to its
star-studded team.

According to insiders, Deepika was
initially on board for Spirit, but things took a turn due to disagreements
behind the scenes. Sources close to the production reveal that Deepika had
agreed to be part of the film under some very specific conditions. She
allegedly requested a fixed six-hour workday, additional payment if the shoot
extended beyond 100 days, and modifications in the official contract to include
these terms.
These demands reportedly didn’t sit well
with director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who felt they would interfere with the scale
and flow of such a massive action drama. Despite the producer stepping in to
mediate, Deepika’s team stood firm on their conditions. Eventually, Sandeep
decided to part ways and began looking for a more flexible actress who aligns
with the film’s schedule and creative vision.

Spirit is produced by T-Series and
Bhadrakali Pictures, marking the debut collaboration between Sandeep Reddy
Vanga and Prabhas. Given the blockbuster success of Animal, expectations for
Spirit are sky-high. Deepika’s involvement had added further weight to the
film’s star power, making her exit a notable development in Indian cinema news.
Meanwhile, Deepika continues to be busy
with her upcoming sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD, in which she also stars opposite
Prabhas. Some fans speculate that back-to-back appearances with the same
co-star might have also influenced her decision to step away from Spirit.
As casting reshuffles begin, the hunt is on
for a new leading lady. While no official announcement has been made, industry
watchers are eager to see who will step into the high-profile role. Stay tuned
for more updates on this evolving casting drama from one of the most awaited
Indian films.
