The Shah Rukh Khan starrer's recent release Dunki has been facing difficulties in bringing the audience into theatres ever since its opening day. The movie has received mix reviews from audiences which can be one of the reasons for its low collection at the box office. Another is quite evident in the clash with Prabhas starrer Salaar

Dunki was released on 21st December in theatres. The opening day of the movie was expected to bring a spark to the box office collection. Although the movie had quite a decent opening day; it managed to generate ₹ 29.2 Cr. On its second day, Dunki experienced a fall at the box office and made roughly made ₹ 20.5 Cr. In total, the movie made  ₹49.20 Cr. 

The film trade analyst Ramesh Bala tweeted about the movie's box office collection, 'Early estimates for Dunki day 2 all-India NBOC is ₹21 crore+ NBOC weekend will be big.' As per the reports, the movie marked 31.22 per cent (Hindi) on Friday. Mumbai and Chennai have shown the highest occupancy among other cities across India.

Dunki is a lighthearted comedy-drama that revolves around the experiences of immigrants, connected with the term 'Dunki' also known as 'Dunki Fly.' The plot of the story is based on an illegal immigration technique 'donkey flight'. Along with Shah Rukh Khan movie also features Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, Boman Irani, Vikram Kochhar and Anil Grover. Dunki marks the first collaboration between Shah Rukh and Rajkumar Hirani.
