“Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire” is a 2023 Telugu-language epic action drama film by Prashanth Neel. The story takes place in Khansaar, a powerful city-state ruled by monarchy. “Deva” (Prabhas), a prince outcast, and “Vardha” (Prithviraj Sukumaran), the reigning prince, are friends. But their loyalty and friendship are tested when political machinations and blood feuds pose a threat to Khansaar's stability.
“Raja Mannar”, the father of Vardha, in 1985 orders the Shouryaanga tribe annihilated in order to prevent anyone from rising up against him. Deva and his mother are ambushed by a gang of thugs but are saved by Vardha by sacrificing his property as an exchange. Deva leaves Khansaar making a vow to return to save Vardha if he is ever in trouble.
Years later, in 2017, Deva, who is now in Assam, is again in the middle of the chaos of Khansaar when he rescues Aadhya, an innocent girl caught up in a war of domination. The act reawakens the old grudges and forces Deva to confront his past. Off-stage, though, there's a bad design cooking up between some powerful groups like Raja Mannar's daughter “Radha Rama” and cross-tribe chieftains who fight for dominance over Khansaar.
As Deva returns to the city, secrets start to unravel. The once powerful monarchy is on the verge of crumbling, with Vardha's dominance threatened by his own family and the merciless ruling elite. When Deva discovers his true heritage, he is the rightful king of Khansaar, born to a Shouryaanga tribe chieftain. When war and betrayal erupt, Vardha declares Deva to be his Salaar, his most trusted warrior, and the battle is on for a bloody struggle for dominance.
