The trend of remaking South blockbusters in Hindi is gaining momentum every year. This has reduced the load of building a fresh script for makers. While some original films are simply dubbed in Hindi, others are still being remade with different star cast and makers. While remakes like Vikram Vedha and Jersey and soon going to release, another one to join the list is the Malayalam film The Great Indian Kitchen. The film stars Nimisha Sajayan and Suraj Venjaramoodu in the lead. Harman Baweja and Vicky Bahri have bagged the rights for it and the casting is in progress. While the original film was directed by Jeo Baby, the Hindi version will be helmed by Arati Kadav, who debuted with the Netflix original, Cargo.

The Great Indian Kitchen remake will most likely go on floors by mid 2022. The story of the film revolves around a newly wed woman who is eager to please her in-laws and hubby but struggles to do so. Some other popular South movies that are being remade in Hindi include Anniyan starring Ranveer Singh, Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru starring Varun Dhawan, HIT starring Rajkummar Rao, Soorarai Pottru & Ratsasan starring Akshay Kumar, Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo starring Kartik Aaryan, among others.
