Imtiaz Ali Announces New Film With Sharvari And Diljit Dosanjh

Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali, largely known for redefining romance and emotional storytelling in Indian cinema, is set to return to the director’s chair with an untitled project. It promises to be an intriguing tale of love, identity and longing. He has scheduled to release this untitled project to release on Baisakhi 2026.  

The film’s shooting will commence in the month of August 2025. The film will undoubtedly involve talented stars such as Diljit Dosanjh, Naseeruddin Shah, Vedang Raina, and Sharvari in the lead roles.

The reports by Bollywood Hungama state that Imtiaz Ali strives to continue crafting emotionally rich stories, grounded in reality and lyricism. The director said, ‘It’s a story of a boy and a girl, but also a country.’

Also, he reflected about the film’s emotional core with a quote from the poem by Momin, he said, ‘Can love really be lost? Can home be taken away from someone’s heart? ‘

However, this upcoming film will mark the return of one of the creative collaborations, namely A.R. Rahman, Irshad Kamil and Imtiaz Ali. This trio previously gave the industry melodious soundtracks for the film, such as Highway, Rockstar, and Tamasha, creating buzz for the film.

The filmmakers scheduled the upcoming film for release around Baisakhi in 2026. The film also extensively explores themes of renewal, emotional growth, and homecoming.
