Actress Kalpana Iyer was had got very popular with her dancing to the 1981 Ramba Ho came into the limelight once again. The actress spoke about why she had left the film industry. She said she wasn’t happy with the kind of work she was getting and she moved to Dubai in the late 1990’s. She also mentioned she is open to work even now.
She said while she continued with the television and the films, she was not a part of any cliché nor were both the industries offering her the kind of work she would have liked to and thought there was no point in continuing to be in the entertainment industry and stepped back.
There were rumors that she had asked Salman Khan for help to get her roles, she denied that she hadn’t called anybody not because it is wrong to ask but Dubai is not so big that they can’t reach me and she mentioned she was not unapproachable if people wanted to contact her.
She stated if she deserved the role she would have been contacted so she is not blaming anyone and doesn’t believe in negativity.
Kalpana Iyer added she has now been approached for reality shows . Recently a video of hers surfaced on internet with her dancing to her 1981 Ramba Ho at a family function. The song has topped the charts after it featured in Dhurandhar.
About Kalpana Iyer’s career
The actress had featured in several films between 1980 to 1990 and was in some of the very popular hit films such as Satte Pe Satta, Bade Dilwala, Hum Paanch, Laadla and Anjaam among many others. She is known for her role as Sangeeta in the film Hum Saath Saath Hai where she had played the close friend of Reema Lagoo’s character, creating tension in the family dynamics. Her last film was Dil HI Dil Mein in 1999.
Kalpana Iyer thereafter had left Bollywood and moved to Dubai. She has also been part of several television serials in the 1990’s and had featured in Kashish, Junoon, Chandrakanta, Farmaan, Banegi Apni Baat and in Margarita.
