Leo Advance Booking Surpasses Jawan In Number Of Tickets Sold
Leo's advance booking has surpassed Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan in terms of the number of tickets sold. Despite the uncertainty surrounding the release of Vijay's Leo in the Telugu states and its earliest show in Tamil Nadu, the action-packed movie directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj has managed to sell the highest number of tickets in advance booking this year. According to Sacnilk, Leo has already sold 1.6 million tickets and is projected to sell 2 million tickets before its opening day.
In a showdown between Vijay's Leo and Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan, Leo emerged victorious in terms of advance ticket sales. Jawan, which was released last month and currently holds the record for the highest Hindi box office collection within India, had sold 1.575 million tickets in advance for its opening day. The Tamil version of Leo has sold 1.375 million tickets, while the Telugu and Hindi versions have sold 210,000 and 20,000 tickets respectively.
Despite Leo's success in ticket sales, it still falls behind Jawan in terms of box office earnings. While Lokesh's movie has collected ₹31 crore so far, Jawan has collected ₹41 crore through advance bookings. The disparity can be attributed to the difference in the average ticket price between the two movies. Jawan had an average ticket price of ₹251 on the opening day, while Leo's average ticket price stands at ₹202.
Leo, however, faces additional obstacles, particularly in Tamil Nadu. The Madras High Court has limited the earliest show of Leo to 7 AM instead of the requested 4 AM start time by the makers. Furthermore, the movie's runtime of 2 hours and 43 minutes, along with a mandatory interval of 20 minutes and 40 minutes allotted for cleaning the cinema hall after each show, has led to a restriction of five shows per day between 9 AM and 1:30 AM.
Leo is scheduled to release on October 19 in 2D and IMAX formats in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.
