Rajkummar Rao’s action thriller Maalik, which hit theaters on July 11, has made an impressive impact at the box office in its opening weekend.
The film opened with Rs 3.75 crore on Friday and saw a jump on Saturday with collections of Rs 5.25 crore. Maintaining momentum, it earned another Rs 5.25 crore on Sunday, taking the total to Rs 14.25 crore in three days.

Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics and audiences, Maalik has managed to draw steady footfall, especially in evening and night shows. According to initial trade reports, the Hindi (2D) screenings had 29.79 percent occupancy in the evening on Sunday, while the night shows saw 22.81 percent. Morning shows, however, remained slow at 8.05 percent.

With the first weekend showing solid numbers, the coming weekdays will determine if Maalik can sustain its hold and emerge as a box office hit.
