Sanjay Dutt Criticizes Bollywood’s Focus On Money, Praises South Cinema’s Passion

Actor Sanjay Dutt, currently active in the South Indian film industry, has made a bold statement about the state of Bollywood. Speaking during the teaser launch of his upcoming Kannada film KD The Devil.

Dutt shared his concerns about Bollywood’s creative decline and praised the South industry’s continued dedication to meaningful cinema.

Bollywood has lost its real audience,  Dutt said, pointing to states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, and Jharkhand. He believes that while Bollywood is now only chasing box office numbers, the South continues to make films that connect with the masses. Dutt added, Everything in Bollywood has become only about money. There should be heart and passion in it.

Reflecting on the post-Covid scenario, he mentioned that Bollywood still hasn’t recovered fully. In contrast, producers in the South are experimenting with all kinds of stories and delivering content that reaches people across regions. He expressed hope that Bollywood would rediscover its lost passion.

Dutt also revealed that KD The Devil, which also stars Vijay Sethupathi, Nora Fatehi, Shilpa Shetty, and Dhruv Sarja, will release on July 10 next year. The teaser has already received a strong response, and Dutt continues to affirm his passion for cinema through diverse projects.
