Film debut and rise to prominence ( 2012-2013) Esha Gupta was roped in for her film entry in Mukesh Bhatt’s bankrolled sequel crime thriller flick Jannat 2, which saw her pairing with Emraan Hashmi and Randeep Hooda in the main lead. The movie had her coming up with a stellar act despite the movie only fairing moderately. The movie had her getting spotted with a peculiar finesse and charm and many reviewers cited her presence to be crucial to the proceedings in hand though some had her under the radar for being just another glam prop amidst the main storyline. She was then called upon the same year by Vikram Bhatt for the third instalment of the highly successful Raaz series through Raaz 3 alongside Emraan Hashmi and Bipasha Basu in the lead. The horror thriller flick saw Esha Gupta playing a budding actress who goes on to steal the spotlight from the then existing star face played by Basu which leads to a series of mysterious and dark consequences. Esha’s performance in the movie garnered mostly mixed reviews with a group praising her increasing command over her craft. The huge success of the movie made her an overnight star in Bollywood although it was Basu who had a major star transformation post the release. Subsequent releases ( latter 2012-2014) Esha’s third outing was in Prakash Jha’s political drama flick Chakravyuh alongside Arjun Rampal and Abhay Deol which failed miserably yet saw her fetching encouraging by word of mouth. After only having a song special appearance in the year 2013 with Imran Khan’s Gori Tere Pyaar Mein, she returned to mainstream with Sajid Khan’s caper comedy flick Humshakals which had her pairing with Saif Ali Khan and Riteish Deshmukh in the lead but time she could not taste critical and commercial success or favourable reviews for her performance with the movie going on to be a huge disappointment. Her next lead film came after a year’s gap in 2016 with Akshay Kumar’s Rustom, which saw her sharing screen with Ileana DCruz as the female leads. The super hit courtroom drama had her playing the sister of a murdered naval officer who sets out to place the wrong doer in front of justice by hook or by crook. Her performance was a welcome change for her as it saw her making much headway as an actress and had something in it to perform. Her next major role was in the sequel action flick Commando 2: The Black Money Trail where she appeared along with a long star cast consisting led by Vidyut Jammwal and Adah Sharma. Esha’s upcoming film releases of the year 2017 are Hera Pheri, Baadshaho, Aankhen 2 in Hindi and Yaar Ivan in Tamil. Esha Gupta has also gone on to be part of the following song numbers from various movies like : Special appearance in the song “Beparwah” from the movie Baby in 2015. Cameo appearance in the song number “ RailGaddi” in the trilingual movie Tutak Tutak Tutiya in the year 2016.
