Swatantra Veer Savarkar


Based on the life of Revolutionary personality Vinayak Damodar Savarkar this upcoming Bollywood movie marks the directorial debut of actor Randeep Hooda. Vinayak Damodar Savarkar was a lawyer, activist, and politician his contribution to India's freedom fight was left unknown to many and this biopic will narrate this unheard story. Hooda plays the character of  Savarkar in the movie and co-writes the script with Utkarsh Naithani. The trailer of the movie was released in January on the occasion of Savarkar's 140th birth anniversary. Other than Hooda, Ankita Lokhande, Amit Sial, R Bhakti Klein, Apinderdeep Singh, Mark Bennington, David M Harrison, Russell G Banks, Ed Robinson, Ankita Lokhande, Amit Sial, and Mark Bennington also handle major characters in the movie. Produced by Anand Pandit Motion Pictures, Legend Global Studio, and Randeep Hooda, the movie is set for theatrical release on March 22, 2024.


Ikkis


The ace Bollywood director Sriram Raghavan, who is known for hits like Johnny Gaddaar, Badlapur, and Andhadhun, is getting back in the game with ‘Ikkis.’ This biopic movie revolves around the life of 'Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal', who was the youngest recipient of the Param Vir Chakra and a war hero in the Indian Army. Ikkis will highlight the sacrifices of Arun Khetarpal. Archies fame Agastya Nanda, the grandson of the veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan, is set to portray Khetarpal on the big screen. The cast of this biopic movie also includes Dharmendra and Jaideep Ahlawat in crucial roles. The release of this movie is slated for 2025.


Chakda Xpress  

‘Chakda 'Xpress’ will feature Anushka Sharma getting back on the big screen after a long time. Chakda Xpress is an upcoming biographical sports drama movie that will tell the story of Jhulan Goswami, the woman Indian cricketer who played for the national women's cricket team from the year  2002 to 2022. Anushka Sharma portrays the role of Jhulan Goswami. Directed by Prosit Roy and written by Abhishek Banerjee, ‘Chakda 'Xpress’ is produced by Karnesh Sharma under the banner of Clean Slate Film. Renuka Shahane, Anshul Chauhan, Koushik Sen, and Mahesh Thakur will be also seen in this movie, with Rob Miller of ReelSports directing the sports sequences. The movie is expected to be released in December 2024.

 

Chandu Champion

83 director Kabir Khan is back with yet another biographical sports drama with ‘Chandu Champion.' The movie is inspired by the highly motivating life story of India’s first Paralympic gold medallist, Murlikant Petkar. 

 Kartik Aaryan portrays the lead role in the movie. The ensemble cast of ‘Chandu Champion’ includes Manoj Anand, Katrina Kaif, and Shraddha Kapoor. The movie is produced by Kabir Khan Films, Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, and Star Studios. It will hit screens on June 14, 2024.

 

Maidaan

Maidan is an upcoming movie that portrays the life and journey of the football coach Syed Abdul Rahim, who revolutionised the sport in India. The movie follows his dedication towards sports and how his determination, leadership, and vision made him an iconic figure in Indian sports history. Ajay Devgan will portray Syed Abdul Rahim, also known as Rahim Saab, in this movie. The movie will majorly focus on the incidents between 1952 to 1962. Priyamani, Rudranil Ghosh, Gajraj Rao, Nitanshi Goel, and Keerthy Suresh play major characters in this movie directed by c. A R Rahman is the music director of the movie, produced by Zee Studios and Bayview Projects. 'Maidaan' is set to be released on April 10, 2024


Chhaava

Chhaava is an upcoming historical drama that will narrate the courageous story of  Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj the son of legendary Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Directed by Laxman Utekar this movie this highly anticipated movie will hit the theatres on 6th December 2024. Vicky Kaushal will play the character of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and Rashmika Mandanna will play the character of Yesubai Bhonsale. The movie also features Akshaye Khanna and Ashutosh Rana. Dinesh Vijan is producing the movie.


Sourav Ganguly Biopic: 

Based on the life of former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly in this biographical movie, Ayushmann Khurrana will play the lead role. The movie will be directed by Lal Salaam director  Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth. According to reports Sourav Ganguly who is fondly known as Dada is closely involved in the making of this biopic. The movie is expected to release at the end of the year 2024.


Abhinav Bindra Biopic:

The movie is based on Abhinav Bindra’s autobiography, 'A Shot at History: My Obsessive Journey to Olympic Gold.' Abhinav Bindra is a rifle shooter who was the winner of the men's 10-metre air rifle competition at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China. He was India's first Olympic athlete to become an Olympic gold medalist.

 

Emergency

Emergency is an upcoming political drama featuring Kangana Ranaut in the role of the former prime minister of India Indira Gandhi. The movie is set to hit the theatres on June 14, 2024. The movie is based on the life of Indira Gandhi and it will majorly focus on the emergency period declared by Indira Gandhi across the country. It was a  21-month period from 1975 to 1977. The movie is Kangana Ranaut's first solo directorial movie. Other than her the movie features Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhary, Milind Soman, Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair, and the late veteran actor Satish Kaushik. 


The Good Maharaja

The Good Maharaja is an Indo-Polish war drama directed by Vikash Verma, and produced by G7 Films Poland. The movie is based on the life of Digvijaysinhji Ranjitsinhji Jadeja, the Maharaja Jam Sahib of Nawanagar. The movie casts Sanjay Dutt in the lead role of Digvijaysinhji Ranjitsinhji Jadeja. The Good Maharaja also features Nitu Chandra, Gulshan Grover, Sharad S. Kapoor and Vikky Kumar. The movie is scheduled to hit theatres in 2024.
